Tips to graduate with a first-class degree in the university
Every student has the potential to graduate with a first-class degree in the university including you reading this post but a lot of students couldn’t make first-class due to some reason I labelled not worthy reason.
As an undergraduate student graduating with first-class honours makes you open to opportunities like easy job search, scholarships and many more. In this article, we will be discussing how to graduate with a first-class in the university.
how to graduate with a first-class degree in the university
Earning a first-class honour in the university is a great success for an undergraduate student. But for an undergraduate to get that, he/she has a hard nut to crack. Hard nut to crack simply means they must be willing to sacrifice their time and energy to effectively study.
As I said at the beginning of this article, every undergraduate student has the potential of earning first-class honour but those who usually get it are only those who went the extra mile like studying regularly and attending all or almost a lecture class
Here are the tips to graduate with a first-class degree in the university
Attend all lectures and pay attention to each lecture
Attending classes or lectures is one of the habits you must cultivate to achieve first-class.
Note: attending classes without paying attention in class is just like planting crops inside a bush. The crops will be choked to death. Always pay adequate attention to each of your classes or lectures.
Also, do away with anything that will distract you. Paying attention in classes will make you understand your course quickly and also aid your quick remembrance during examinations.
Review your notes after each lecture
Always take about ten to fifteen minutes to read through your notes after each class. By doing this you get to be more finalised with your notes and also get to assimilate what you just learned.
Join an active study group
Joining a study group is one of the best ways to achieve your goals.
Almost a lot of students couldn’t make the first class due to joining the wrong groups. That is why I added active to the study group, please ensure you join the study group with those who have like-minded students.
Attend tutorials
The study has shown that students who attend tutorials have more chances of graduating with first class than those who don’t. Attending a tutorial will shed more light and widen your understanding of the topics you learned in class when they have been retaught in the tutorial.
Also tutorial allows you to learn what you might not be taught in class, because of time your lecturer might not be able to cover all the course outlines and he/she might still ask questions about what he/she didn’t teach. In a situation like that tutorials can help you cover more if not all your topic and you will also learn exam-based questions.
In your pursuit of graduating with first class, please ensure you make attending tutorials serious but only attend tutorials on lecture-free time.
prayer
Prayer answers all things. It is also important to build your prayer life. Ensure you pray as if you don’t read and also study as if you don’t pray. Your prayers will speak for you where you might not be.
Students might do well in cumulative assessment (CA) and examination but in a situation where examination answer scripts are missing.
The lecturer will assume such students don’t write the examination and will fail them. Prayer can help you prevent such situations. Make sure you pray regularly.
Conclusion
Graduating with a First-class degree is a potential dream of all undergraduate students but not all students achieve this dream due to a not worthy reason.
As a popular adage says “there is no excuse for success’. Which means you don’t have any valid reason for not achieving success.
Therefore you must work smart to achieve success but graduating with first-class honour is a huge success for an undergraduate student.
Dedication and consistency play a long role in achieving one dream.
You must be dedicated and consistent in your studies.
Inculcating habits like attending class regularly will make understanding your studies easier for you and you will also spend less time reading and understanding what you are being taught in class. Attending tutorials expose what you need to know but are not taught in class and this serves as an advantage for you.
There is a popular saying “You dream you have” This also applies to achieving first-class but if you only dream it will not come true. You must dream and work smartly towards it. Make it your priority and you will achieve it.
